Gitobu
As a renewable energy advocate, Jeanette is passionate about fighting climate change and empowering women to become thought leaders in the sector.
Jeanette's career journey didn't start in the renewable energy sector. Rather, her interest in finance, which she cultivated while growing up as a missionary child in Cambodia, led her to pursue an undergraduate degree in Economics, which opened doors for her in the private equity sector.
After gaining experience in finance, she shifted to the oil and gas industry before finally finding her passion in renewable energy. Despite changing careers twice, she managed successful transitions through networking and by seeking advice from professionals in the industry. Her advice to others considering transitioning to the sustainability sector is to equip themselves with transferable skills that can serve them across multiple industries.
As a renewable energy advocate, Jeanette is passionate about fighting climate change and empowering women to become thought leaders in the sector. She believes that the renewable energy industry offers immense opportunities for everyone, especially girls and women. Jeanette uses her platform to encourage discussions about the responsibility we all have to safeguard the planet while helping individuals recognize and refine essential skills needed to pursue a prosperous career in the sector.
Jeanette is also the current Director of the Women in Wind Global Leadership Program at the Global Wind Energy Council. She believes that the wind sector welcomes everyone, and that young people need to be incorporated early on to ensure they can take full ownership of projects when the time comes. Women in Wind provides mentorship and networking opportunities to cultivate an inclusive environment that encourages more women to join the sector.
Jeanette's vision for the sustainability sector is to create a just future for generations to come. She believes that climate change is a real treat and that we all have a role to play in protecting the planet.
